Through the use of the Summit software developer's kit (SDK), an application can perform functions as if it were an administrator on the Summit Client Utility. The Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) is the global, non-profit organization that created the Wi-Fi® brand. Formed in 1999, the WFA enhances the user experience by certifying the interoperability of Wi-Fi products, or wireless local area network (WLAN) products that are based on IEEE 802.11 specification. The WFA has more than 300 member companies and has certified over 4,200 products. By certifying the interoperability of Wi-Fi products, the WFA grows the global market for such products and influences the strategic development of technologies, standards, services, and applications.
